Seismic Coffee Table/Bench
Seismic was designed around the warp of this center-cut board of European Elm, and to preserve the integrity of the plank. The two ends of the board were "folded" down to form the legs maintain continuity across the surface. Built to be both a bench and coffee table. Use it as you need.
The rippled surface is hand-gouged, suggesting movement. The edges were left unfinished to contrast with the machine-planed underside as a reminder that this material was once a living tree.
The red paint follows the curved center of the tree.
